Hello Colleague,

We’ve reached the end of the summer 2023 exam series and are very nearly at the end of the academic year. Well done and thank you from us for all the extremely hard work you’ve put in supporting students throughout this year. We wish you a fun and relaxing summer break ahead. :)

Examiners are now hard at work marking your students’ scripts before we move to the awarding process to determine grades. If you’d like to learn more about this or have any questions, please see below.

Results days for AS & A Level, Core Maths and FSMQ qualifications are

  • Wednesday 16 August for centres
  • Thursday 17 August for candidates.

Results days for Entry Level Certificate and GCSE qualifications are

  • Wednesday 23 August for centres
  • Thursday 24 August for candidates.

As always, if you have any queries or if we can give you any further support, please get in touch. Our role is to support you as you deliver our qualifications.

In advance of this summer’s results days, remember it has been announced that grading in 2023 will broadly be in line with before the pandemic. Ofqual has said that they expect ‘national results this year to be similar to those in pre-pandemic years’. For more information, please see Ofqual’s article ‘Grading exams and assessments in summer 2023 and autumn 2022’ published last year. If you have any questions, please do get in touch.

If you, your students or their parents would like to learn more about the examining process, please see our ‘Explaining examining’ support page.

Free access to scripts
teachers looking at a computer

From candidates’ results day, your exams officer will be able to download their completed summer 2023 scripts free of charge for OCR general qualifications. These scripts can then help you decide whether to request a review of marking, as well as supporting you and your department’s teaching and learning.

For more information and instructions for your exams officer on accessing scripts, please see our ‘Access to Scripts’ webpage.

As standard for access to scripts requests, please be aware that

  • written consent from candidates must be obtained after they have received their results before your exams officer can download their script,
  • your exams officer will only have access to scripts taken at your own centre.

Summer network meetings
Teachers in a network meeting

Most of our summer 2023 free Teacher Network meetings have now taken place. If you attended one (or more), we hope it was useful.

Our final summer Teacher Network, for A Level Further Maths, takes place next week on Monday 10 July at 16:00.

At the network, we'll:

  • host a discussion of the summer series of both specifications,
  • look at promoting the qualification and options with your students,
  • review professional development and resource provision across both specifications,
  • give you a chance for you to network and ask questions.

Whether you’re an experienced teacher or just starting out, get yourself a place and we look forward to speaking to you there.
