Supporting your delivery of our new A Level Business – free digital student book opportunity

We’re pleased to offer all schools and colleges delivering our new A Level Business a free site licence for a digital student book from Cambridge, giving staff and students who need it unlimited access to a resource designed to support the qualification.

On this page, you’ll find more information about the book, and how to take advantage of this opportunity.

If you have any questions that aren’t covered here, or would like to speak to a member of our UK Schools and Colleges Team directly, please contact us.

The free site licence opportunity

What is a site licence? Who will be able to access the book with it?

A site licence allows multiple users within a single school, centre, institution or organisation to access and use published materials – such as digital textbooks – under the terms of one licence.

The digital book will be published by Cambridge and accessible via their online platform, Cambridge Go. With our free site licence, all members of your school or college, including students, can be registered to view the student book online if they need it for teaching or learning. This will be for as long as your school or college is delivering our A Level (H436) Business qualification.

You’ll be able to manage who has access to the student book, and remove students and staff who no longer require it.

Once you've confirmed you’re teaching with us (details on how to do this below), we’ll send you instructions on how to activate your licence, access the digital student book, and share access with all relevant colleagues and students.

Do I need to be teaching Cambridge OCR’s qualification to benefit?

Yes, to access the free site licence you’ll need to confirm that your school or college is delivering our redeveloped A Level Business (H436). See below for more information on how to do this.

All schools and colleges delivering the qualification will be eligible for a site licence to access to the digital student book for as long as they continue to teach it.

Please note, this book is an optional support resource. There is no requirement to use it when delivering the qualification. You can also purchase print versions of the student book directly from Cambridge, if required.

How do I confirm I’m teaching your A Level Business and access the free licence?
  1. To let us know you’re planning to deliver or delivering our A Level Business (H436), fill in our Intention to Teach form.

You’ll be asked to provide details such as your school or college name, cohort size, and intended teaching start date.

  2. The form will be submitted to our team, who may follow up with a quick call or email to make sure we have all the information we need to set up your licence and support you as you begin delivering the qualification.

  3. Once we’ve confirmed your plans and have all the details we need, we’ll send you full instructions on how to register for your site licence and share access with relevant colleagues and students.

This process should be straightforward, but if you run into any issues, our Customer Services Team will be on hand to help.

  4. In future, we may get in touch to update our records, confirm you're still teaching with us, and renew your access/licence.
Do I need to use this book to take the A Level Business qualification?

No. This student book is an optional support resource, which has been designed to help teachers deliver the qualification and support students with their learning. There’s no requirement to use it when teaching or studying our A Level Business.

Where will the book be hosted?

Once published, the digital student book will be hosted on Cambridge Go: Cambridge’s platform for online resources and learning tools.

Cambridge Go is designed to be accessible, user-friendly, and compatible with a wide range of devices, including computers, tablets, and smartphones.

Once we’ve confirmed that you’re teaching and we have all the details we need, you’ll receive easy-to-follow instructions on how to access the book and explore Cambridge Go. Plus, our Customer Services Team will be available to help with any issues.

How long will I be able to access the book?

Your school or college will have access to a free site licence for the digital student book for as long as you’re delivering our A Level Business (H436) qualification

From time to time, we may get in touch to confirm you're still teaching with us and update our records, so we can renew your access/licence.

Please note, it’s our intention to offer this free site licence to schools and colleges teaching this qualification for the lifespan of the specification. However, this is subject to change. We’ll notify you of any updates to this policy.

What happens if the member of staff who registered for the book leaves?

The site licence is granted to your school or college, not to an individual. So, even if the person who registered for the licence leaves, your licence will remain active.

To avoid any disruption, you’ll be able to add multiple admins during the activation process. Admins can be any member of staff at your school or college, such as teachers, Heads of Department, or support staff. This ensures that several colleagues can manage the account.

You’ll also be able to manage who has access to the student book, and remove students and staff who have left and no longer require it.

If you have any challenges or questions about this, our Customer Services Team would be happy to help.

Who do I speak to if I have any questions or problems with accessing the book?

If you have any problems with accessing the book or with Cambridge Go, you can contact our Customer Services Team.

The book and its contents

Who is producing the book and what does it cover?

The student book will be published by Cambridge and is expected to be available from summer 2026. It’s been written by experienced A Level Business teachers – Simon Dyer, Kelly Chalk, and Alex Grant.

The book is mapped to our redeveloped A Level Business (H436) specification, offering comprehensive coverage of the content. It includes activities, tools, and opportunities for exam preparation.

Please note, the book has been submitted to us for endorsement.

What are the key features of the book?
  1. A book you can trust: the book will offer comprehensive coverage of our A Level Business, so you can be confident it will support your students to develop the essential skills and knowledge they need.

  2. Clear, easy to follow structure: organised into chapters that align with the specification and assessments, students will be able to navigate content efficiently and gradually develop their understanding.

  3. Relevant, real-world business content: real-life, contemporary examples and case studies will make abstract concepts more relevant to today's students. Each chapter will begin with an engaging "Business in Context" case study that introduces the topic in an accessible way and brings theory to life.

  4. Clear, student-friendly language: accessible language will be used throughout, with subject-specific terminology introduced and defined in context to make it easier to grasp. Key word definitions and a comprehensive glossary serve as reference tools for students to help master and apply new vocabulary.

  5. Progressive learning: new ideas will be introduced gradually through bite-sized topics, building on what was covered before to help reduce cognitive load.

  6. Visual support: illustrations, diagrams and photographs will be included to reinforce learning.

  7. Active learning for all students: regular activities in each chapter will promote active learning and a deeper understanding through practical application, while encouraging students to relate what they’re learning to businesses they know.

  8. Exam preparation: practice questions with answers, exam tips and guidance on command words will better prepare students for assessments, while end-of-chapter formative activities will empower them to monitor their progress.

  9. Flexible digital learning: students, and teachers, will be able to access content anytime, anywhere, thanks to the book’s flexible digital format.
