Update 25 August 2022
We have now issued every result for students with higher education progression needs where we know that they have met the criteria for a Cambridge Technicals qualification. Since results day, we have issued 1,366 results for students with higher education or equivalent progression needs.
We are still working with a small number of centres – concerning up to 226 results for students with potential higher education progression needs - to help those schools and colleges to establish if they can provide additional information that would enable eligible students to receive qualifications. As we receive that information, we will issue any outstanding results.
Our team is ready to rapidly process and release further results, should additional information or cases emerge. In total we have issued 3,500 additional results since results day.
Thank you to everyone – from schools and colleges to students and parents – who helped deliver results and support students’ progression.
We are very sorry for the additional stress to students over the past week, and are continuing to support individual students in contacting universities. Universities are highly supportive and understanding of students experiencing delays in receiving their results and are holding places until at least 31 August.
For students, schools and colleges looking for further advice or support, including with contacting universities, please email us at support@ocr.org.uk or call 01223 553998 (8am to 5pm).
Evening update 24 August 2022
We have processed hundreds more student results today, and this work continues overnight. We are supporting many individual students by contacting universities. Universities are understanding of students experiencing delays in receiving their results and are holding places until at least 31 August.
Morning update 24 August 2022
Overnight we reduced the number of student results where higher education or equivalent progression is at stake to 692. We will update again this evening.
Update 23 August 2022
We are continuing to deliver hundreds more results every day, and released over 400 this morning.
We are rapidly reducing the number of results where higher education or equivalent progression needs are at stake. We have identified 891 such student results which are our top priority. We are working around the clock to issue these as soon as possible and to have delivered them by Thursday.
Update 22 August 2022
We are very sorry that some students have had delays in receiving Cambridge Technicals results. We apologise for the stress and uncertainty this has caused for students and families.
Our teams have been working throughout the weekend to resolve the issues and will be delivering more results to schools and colleges today. To give you an update on numbers:
- up to and including results day 2022, we issued over 30,000 Cambridge Technicals results to students
- since results day, we have issued over 2,000 more results for students. Of which, over 800 were sent to UCAS to support applications to higher education.
This remains our top priority and we are working to resolve it as a matter of urgency.
As a reminder, Cambridge Technicals are complex unit-based qualifications – and are not assessed in the same way as A Levels. We also introduced additional support and flexibility to support students because of COVID which added a greater number of routes to achieve a final grade. This year we needed significant amounts of information about units achieved over the last two years or more from schools and colleges in order to award qualifications. We are extremely grateful to schools and colleges for working with us and answering any outstanding queries over the last few days so students can receive grades.
Support
If you are a student waiting for your results, please keep in touch with your school or college as we are delivering results daily. You should also keep your preferred university informed.
We are updating UCAS with results at the same time as we release them to schools and colleges. We have also been liaising with individual universities to explain the delays in issuing Cambridge Technicals. Update - Sunday 21 August
We are very sorry that some students are experiencing delays in receiving their Cambridge Technicals results. We are doing everything we can to deliver results as rapidly as possible, and are continuing to make significant numbers of results available around the clock. We delivered hundreds more results this afternoon across all subjects, and we are helping many individual students to liaise with universities and others to help them progress. We are grateful to students, parents, schools, colleges, UCAS and universities for their tireless work to help resolve remaining issues.
What can students still experiencing delays do now?
We are prioritising students with urgent progression needs, such as those holding university offers, where we can.
We want to assure all offer holders that you have until at least 31 August, and in many cases more time than that, to meet conditional offers.
UCAS advises students to inform their preferred universities if they are waiting for delayed results. Most institutions will already be aware.
If you would like us to contact a university for you, please email support@ocr.org.uk or call us on 01223 553998 (8am to 5pm).
You should also talk to your school or college for further advice.
Universities are aware of the issues around Cambridge Technicals and are experienced in handling such challenges. Universities are supportive and sympathetic of students experiencing delays, holding places for students awaiting results.
Why did this happen?
Cambridge Technicals are complex qualifications made up of lots of units, which became even more complex as a result of additional support we put in place for students during the pandemic. These qualifications rely on units achieved over the last two or more years, when many different approaches to assessment were in place, such as teacher-assessed grades, exams, and a variety of coronavirus adaptations.
In order to award qualifications this year we needed much additional information from schools and colleges, which varied for each individual student. In some cases, this information was not available to us ahead of results day, including precisely which students needed to convert their achievements over two or more years into a grade and qualification.
We are in contact with schools and colleges. In some cases we have had to ask for multiple further pieces of information, sometimes spanning multiple years and unit types, so we can process results. In other cases, we have processed results immediately, or we are arranging for them to be delivered very shortly.
We hugely regret the stress and uncertainty this has caused for students.
Update 21 August: Our Customer Support Centre is open today (until 1.15pm) and on Monday from 8am until 5pm for students waiting to get their results. You can email support@ocr.org.uk or call us on 01223 553998. We are continuing to process significant numbers of results. We are very sorry for those experiencing continued delays.
Further update, 20 August: We are continuing to deliver significant numbers of results to schools and colleges throughout the weekend, and we are prioritising students with urgent progression needs, such as those holding university offers, where we can.
We are in contact with multiple schools and colleges. In some cases we have had to ask for further information so we can process results. In other cases, we have processed results immediately, or arranged for them to be delivered on Sunday.
We continue to have positive engagement with UCAS and with universities. Universities are aware of the issues around Cambridge Technicals and other qualifications and are experienced in handling such challenges. Universities are supportive and sympathetic of students experiencing delays, holding places for students awaiting results.
We want to assure all offer holders that you have until at least 31 August, and in many cases more time than that, to meet conditional offers.
UCAS advise students to inform universities that you are talking to about a potential place that you are waiting for your result. Most institutions will already be aware.
If you would like us to contact a university for you, please email support@ocr.org.uk.
Update 20 August: We've delivered more than a thousand results to schools and colleges within the last 24 hours. We'll continue to process results over the weekend. We are providing UCAS with the data at the same time.
Update 19 August: Results for hundreds more students were delivered to schools and colleges this morning, and hundreds more results will be delivered later today. We are working urgently to resolve any additional issues as soon as possible.
Why the delay for some students?
Cambridge Technicals are complex qualifications – more so than A Levels. Additional support and flexibility introduced to support students during the pandemic added to that complexity.
This year we needed significant amounts of additional information from schools and colleges – which varied for individual students and their unique circumstances – in order to award qualifications. In some cases, this information wasn’t available to enable us to provide a grade on results day.
We are urgently working to resolve those cases and provide grades to students as soon as possible.
We are helping affected students and we are contacting universities, who are understanding of the challenges. We stand ready to offer additional support as needed to help with students’ progression.
18 August 2022
While the vast majority of Cambridge Technicals results were delivered on time to tens of thousands of students, we are sorry for a delay in issuing results for some students.
We are working with schools and colleges as a matter of urgency to collect additional information we need to generate grades. We are prioritising students who are waiting for confirmation of their university place. As part of this, we are working with UCAS and liaising directly with universities so they are aware.
If you are a student waiting for your result, please keep in touch with your school or college for the latest information. Please also contact universities to explain your situation so they can advise you.
We are doing everything we can to resolve this rapidly. We are grateful to students, schools and colleges for their patience, and we are sorry for the additional stress this is causing.
We'll keep this page updated with further news about delays to Cambridge Technicals results.
