Welcome! 

Having had the opportunity to speak to the new Education Provider Leads recently as well as some of you directly, we’ve incorporated information to help you get started with out ICT qualifications. We've also included some helpful reminders and updates.

A full list of the discounted qualifications included in the CAB concession contract has been produced and can also be found on our Offender Learning webpage.

If you have queries about your centre approval or wish to add Functional Skills in ICT or other ICT qualifications to your list of approved qualifications, please complete the vocational qualification approval form

Entry Level Award in Using ICT

Using ICT is an Entry Level 3 Award suitable for all learners and for those who are new to using ICT and who wish to gain accreditation for newly acquired skills.

The Award is Centre assessed and externally moderated with model assignments provided by us. 

We also offer a range of support materials that are available to download from the qualification webpage.

ITQ Level 1-3 in IT User Skills

We are pleased to confirm that the review date for ITQ Level 1-3 in IT User Skills has been extended to 30 September 2021 in England and Northern Ireland.

The review date is the date by which we will review the qualification's fitness for purpose.

ICT - computer

ITQ Level 1-3 in IT User Skills is a task based Controlled Assessment, evidenced through a portfolio of practical demo/assignment, centre assessed and externally moderated. You can download example assignments, teaching and learning resources from the qualification webpage.

Functional Skills in ICT
Functional Skills ICT

Functional Skills in ICT is available from Entry Level to Level 2.

ICT Entry Level 1-3 are all centre assessed and externally moderated, OCR set task based controlled paper based assessments. Sample assessment materials available to download from the qualification page.

ICT Level 1-2 are externally assessed using an on-screen demand test. Practice tests are available to approved centres in our on-screen test system - Surpass (see below).

Surpass for Functional Skills ICT Level 1 and 2

As mentioned above we offer a solution to allow your learners to access the assessment for Level 1-2 Functional Skills in ICT.

Our solution allows learners to conduct a search on-screen using a simulated search engine and send an email, without needing access to the internet.

To offer our on-screen tests, you'll need to become an approved centre and sign up to Surpass.

We’ve already had centres take their first on-screen tests at the start of their new contract. To help you to find out more, we have produced a comprehensive guide and FAQs to running on-screen tests in a secure environment. They can also be found on our Offender Learning webpage.

Life and Living Skills
Life and Living Skills

We’ve had some great response to our flexible Entry Level Life and Living Skills qualifications.

The qualification suite is a comprehensive range of versatile and adaptable qualifications at Entry Level 1, 2 and 3, with no minimum entry requirements.

There are over 150 units that can be delivered flexibly, including the delivery of ICT units, pre-employability, personal and social skills. There’s also a range of qualification sizes that are great for motivating learners and recognising achievement if plans change.

New Adult Basic Digital Skills qualifications

We would like to understand our centres’ needs for Digital qualifications, so we can ensure the qualifications we offer meet your needs.
