Our free question-building platform allows you to filter by question types or topics or both. You also have the ability to select parts of questions, or full questions so you have a test that is bespoke and specific to your students.

CPD

Throughout the year we offer a number of webinars and face-to-face CPD events to support your teaching of our GCSE qualifications, these resources are available to download from the CPD training hub. The resources include exam feedback from 2018, exploring question development and examiner marking as well as effective exam preparation for the 2019 assessments. We also host themed webinars on assessment support for free. This year our themes included:

  • Theme 1 – Understanding GCSE question demands e.g. command and key words
  • Theme 2 – GCSE Geographical and Fieldwork skill questions
  • Theme 3 – Understanding the requirements of GCSE 'explain' questions

Planning and Teaching resources

Our GCSE (9-1) qualifications are supported by a wide range of FREE teaching resources that'll help with planning and teaching. Use our resources to plan your lessons and inspire your students' learning. Particular resources which can support you are:

  • The Scheme of Work Builder (GCSE A and GCSE B) – online tool to help you design your own scheme of work.
  • The Delivery Guides – written by teachers for teachers. These support your understanding of topic content and provide bespoke teaching and learning resources.
  • Interactive resources – two story maps which cover all of the graphs, charts and maps from the geographical skills lists in the specification.

NEW resources

  • Command words – how these are defined and used in our assessments
  • Explaining the GCSE Geography ‘explain’ questions, this resource explores a variety of different question styles and their requirements.

Assessment resources

All of the GCSE components have candidate exemplars with Principal Examiner commentary (from the 2018 series), these are great resources for understanding what examiners are looking for in candidate answers and can be read alongside the Principal Examiners Report.

Analyse student performance

We have a free tool called Active Results which supports you to:

  • Review reports on the performance of individual candidates, cohorts of students and whole centres
  • Analyse results at question and/or topic level
  • Identify trends across the centre
  • Facilitate effective planning and delivery of courses
  • Identify areas of the curriculum where students excel or struggle
  • Help pinpoint strengths and weaknesses of students and teaching departments.

You can then focus your planning on particular topics / skills within teaching and learning and student revision activities.
