Make your Cambridge Technicals ‘intention to claim’ to receive results this summer

We recently released a subject information update on the arrangements for receiving Cambridge Technical results this summer.

By the end of tomorrow (Wednesday 13 May) we will provide your exams officer with spreadsheets so that you can let us know which of your students need to receive a Cambridge Technicals qualification result (2012 and 2016 suites) this summer. This will be your ‘intention to claim’.

Accessing the spreadsheets
The spreadsheets will be added to the secure system, Kiteworks and an automatic email sent to your exams officer. They will need to click on the link in the email and follow the on-screen instructions to set up an account.

Within the Kiteworks folder, there will be a spreadsheet for each qualification suite which contains all candidates from your centre who have been registered for Cambridge Technicals (2012 and 2016 suites) since 1 September 2018. These will include:

  • All available units, including examined and moderated
  • Candidates’ unit achievements – any units which have already been achieved will be shown with an ‘A’
  • Candidates who have already certificated, in case they wish to resit and improve their full qualification grade.

Each qualification size will be shown on a different tab.

If any achievements are not showing or candidates are missing, please email us at vqprocessing@ocr.org.uk.

Completing the spreadsheets
Please download each spreadsheet and return them to us by uploading them to Kiteworks by Friday 22 May. We will be alerted as soon as your completed spreadsheet is uploaded.

For each candidate, you need to identify the units they want to use towards their qualification and whether they had intended to resit any of the units. To do this:

  • Add ‘Y’ to column F (CLAIM_CERTS_FOR_SUMMER2020) for each candidate you wish to receive a calculated result this summer.
  • If a candidate wants to resit a unit, replace the ‘A’ (already achieved unit) with the letter ‘R’.
  • Add ‘Y’ for each new, not yet achieved, unit you wish to use towards the certification.
  • If the qualification entry is not correct, for example, you have recently topped up or moved down, enter the qualification code for the qualification they should be entered for in the penultimate column (QUAL_CODE_MOVING_UP_OR_DOWN).

You do not need to provide any centre assessment grades or rank orders yet.

You must not:

  • Amend any candidates’ personal details (name, number or date of birth)
  • Change the qualification or unit names
  • Add any new candidates to the spreadsheet.

In these cases, please email us.

Next steps
Once we have received your spreadsheet, we will then ask you to provide a centre assessment grade and a rank order for each unit for any students due to complete an overall qualification this summer. We will not be asking you for grades or ranks at qualification level.

We will be providing more information about how we will be calculating your results and what information we will require shortly.

June 2020 test unit entries for Cambridge Technicals 2016 suite
If you are looking to use a Cambridge Technicals 2016 suite June 2020 test unit towards a student’s qualification this summer, and have not already done so, please make your test unit entries by Friday 5 June. There will be no late entry fees for these entries.

Non-certificating students
For students not completing the full qualification but due to submit units or take exams this summer, please wait for further information.
