Hello Colleague,

We hope you’ve been having a great term and are looking forward to a well-deserved end of year break. 😊

Are you interested in marking with us next year? We're now recruiting summer 2024 examiners for GCSE (9-1) Maths, A Level Maths and A Level Further Maths. It’s a great opportunity to develop your understanding of the qualification and the assessment process. If you’re interested, please see the final article below for further information. We’ve now filled all the places for Level 3 FSMQ: Addition Maths examiners, thank you to everyone who applied.

In November, Ofqual launched a consultation to gather your views on whether GCSE (9-1) Maths students once again should receive a formulae sheet in the 2024 exams. The consultation closed at the end of November and Ofqual is currently analysing your feedback. We don’t have a date for when the outcome will be published, but once it is we’ll share it on social media as well as confirming it with you via email.

As ever, please get in touch if you have any queries or if we can give you any further support. Our role is to support you as you deliver our qualifications.

We've also just published draft mark schemes from the series and these are now available from Teach Cambridge too.

Please ensure that these are all kept secure so others can use them as mock assessments throughout the upcoming year.

Final mark schemes, analysis grids, examiners' reports and grade boundaries will be available on results day (Thursday 11 January 2024).

New blogs on GCSE (9-1) Maths and education policy

If you’d like to discover how the GCSE (9-1) Maths reforms impacted problem solving, read Amy's new blog. Amy looks at how problem solving has changed in the maths classroom from then to today, plus highlights some useful resources for you.

Also, OCR Policy Researcher Lindsey Taylor has just published a new blog looking at key Government education policy developments of 2023 as well as what might happen in the run-up to the next General Election. The blog is much broader than just maths and covers many wider developments across education, so we recommend taking a read.

We also love to hear from you, so please leave a comment at the end of any of our blogs with your thoughts or any questions.
