Andri Achilleos
Part of the Team since 2019
"I was a teacher for ten years before joining OCR in January 2019 as the subject advisor for A Level Biology. I studied Biology at the University of Bristol and completed an MA in Science Education at the University of York, and have taught in Birmingham as a teacher in charge of Biology, as well as at an international school in Europe.
During my teaching career, I've taken on various roles within the department and have also been an examiner for different exam boards."
Andy Brunning
Part of the Team since 2017
"I joined OCR in September 2017 as the subject advisor for A Level Chemistry. I've a Chemistry BSc and a Secondary Science PGCE from the University of Bath. Before joining OCR, I worked as a Chemistry teacher in Bournemouth and Cambridge.
I also sideline as a science communicator and have produced infographic projects for the Royal Society of Chemistry and the American Chemical Society."
Bethan Foulkes

"I've been a subject advisor for GCSE Sciences and Applied Science since April 2019. Before joining OCR, I taught Biology to 11–18 year-olds for eight years and was responsible for planning my school’s biology schemes of learning. In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I mentored PGCE students and newly qualified teachers (NQTs) in science and oversaw all the trainees and NQTs within the school as a professional tutor.
In my spare time, I enjoy dressmaking, quilting and many other different crafts."
Amy Brewer
Part of the Team since 2022
"I joined OCR in May 2022 as subject advisor for GCSE Sciences and Applied Science. I have a Masters degree in Biochemistry from University of Oxford, obtained my PGCE from University of Sussex in 2005 and achieved Chartered Teacher Status in 2022.
Before joining OCR, I taught chemistry to 11-18 year olds for 16 years, and was responsible for planning my school’s science schemes of learning. In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I mentored PGCE students, was responsible for the progress of KS5 science students, and am committed to improving diversity and inclusion in the sciences."
Ally Davies
Part of the Team since 2021
"After teaching physics and science - and leading departments - for over 20 years, I provided and managed professional support for teachers at Isaac Physics and for the Institute of Physics. I then came and joined OCR in November 2021.
In my spare time, I enjoy nature and the outdoors, walking, cycling and gardening."
Rachel Butler
Part of the Team since 2024
“I joined OCR in January 2024 as subject advisor for GCSE Sciences. Before joining OCR, I was an Assistant Coordinator of Science teaching Biology, Chemistry and Physics to 11–16-year-olds. I was responsible for curriculum planning and assessment in Science as well as overseeing the delivery of engaging practicals.
"I've spent a large chunk of my career supporting ITTs and ECTs, developing the next generation of teachers. Through my love for the subject, I have a passion for making science accessible for all.”
Mike Jackson
Part of the Team since 2024
"I was a teacher for over 16 years before joining OCR in January 2024. This included roles as Head of Science and a Physics Network Lead. I've also been a GCSE Physics examiner. I've got an MA in Research (Education) from the University of Birmingham.
"I'm passionate about sustainability and the environment, with a current interest in the development of fusion and the progress of ITER. In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, jogging, mountain biking and playing hockey."
