We've worked with Cisco to bring you leading industry level teaching and learning to support our J277 GCSE (9-1) Computer Science.
What is OCR Networking Academy?
We've linked two of our Teacher Delivery Packs (1.3: Computer networks, connections and protocols and 1.4: Network Security) to Cisco's Networking Essentials Course to help you upskill your knowledge of networking or computer networks so you can deliver lessons to your students on this topic with greater confidence.
If you sign up, you’ll become part of an "OCR Networking Academy". This is a community of teachers who will develop networking knowledge to deliver in the classroom.
Once you’ve completed the course, if you want to, you can then set your school up as a Cisco Networking Academy. This will allow you to set up your own classes and give your students access to the resources.
What sections of the specification will this support?
This is targeted specifically at Section 1.3 and Section 1.4 of the specification.
Why would I want to do this?
- Teachers have told us that they found teaching networking challenging. We believe that this course will support those teachers to upskill their knowledge using industry quality training
- The OCR Networking Academy will be supported by OCR Subject Advisors and members of Cisco's community staff
- Students and teachers will benefit from industry standard teaching and learning
- We have integrated the sections from the Networking Essentials course into our Teacher and Learning resources for an unrivalled learning experience
- You can set up your own classes to deliver work, assess knowledge and track progress for the Networking content in the specification.
Does this cost me anything?
No! This is all free. We've also negotiated special arrangements with Cisco to help you set up you school as a Networking Academy as well.
Why would I want to become a Cisco academy?
Being an academy allows you to access more Cisco courses and the rest of the learning communities. It also allows you to set up and manage classes for your students.
