2022 assessment consultation

Last month Ofqual and DfE ran a joint consultation on their proposals for 2022 assessments in GCSE, AS and A Level qualifications.

Proposals for the 2022 assessments include:

  • in GCSE, AS and A Level mathematics qualifications, advance notice of the focus of the content of exams should be provided to students in the spring term
  • in GCSE (9-1) Mathematics, a formulae sheet should be provided to students to use in the exam.

The consultation outcome should be published in the new term.

Information about any adjustments to other maths qualifications will also be announced as soon as they’re confirmed.

AMSP Support

The Advanced Mathematics Support Programme (AMSP) has made available a series of support packages for centres and students that have lost teaching time recently.

This includes a free online course designed specially to support students who have studied A level Mathematics and are progressing to an undergraduate degree course this autumn (especially maths, engineering, or physics). Students working through the course will consolidate their skills and understanding, building their confidence with mathematics to help them make a successful transformation to university.
