2022 contingency assessments
GCSE students in a lesson

Last month the DfE and Ofqual confirmed their contingency plans if exams were not able to take place next year.

Although exams are still planned to go ahead in summer 2022, centres are being advised to set contingency assessments to GCSE, AS and A Level students, which could be used as evidence in the event of exams being cancelled.

Information is available in our news story, as well as the full guidance from Ofqual. JCQ has also issued a set of FAQs.

Ofqual's Chief Regulator has also sent letters to students, private candidates and schools and colleges about the plans.

We’ve published a new A Level Further Maths B (MEI) Section Check In test, for the Further Pure with Technology option on ‘Number theory’. Not only does this complete the set of Section Check In tests for this option, but it also completes the whole set for the qualification. We're pleased to let you know that the autumn 2020 papers are now available in ExamBuilder for our GCSE (9-1) Maths, A Level Maths and A Level Further Maths qualifications.

Free to use for all our schools and colleges, ExamBuilder allows you to build bespoke exam papers and assessments, to suit the needs of your students. You can also use it to download editable Word versions of past papers, making it much easier for you to amend questions as needed.

If your school or college isn't using ExamBuilder yet and would like to set up an account, please visit our sign up page to get started. If your centre's already using ExamBuilder and you don’t have access, please speak to a colleague already using ExamBuilder and they'll be able to set you up with an account.

If you’ve not yet joined our Teacher Insight Panel, there are currently a few spaces that you can now easily register for.

We currently have a ‘Maths feedback’ survey, in which we’d be very grateful to learn more about your needs and expectations for your exam board for GCSE and A Level Maths.

Alternatively, if you'd like to discuss this with us face-to-face (virtually, of course), please email our Maths Product Manager at sarah.garry@ocr.org.uk and we’d be very glad to set that up.
