Welcome to the first 2019 edition of Total Maths. We hope you had a great time over the holidays. To help you get the year going we're providing you with a summary of recent maths news and updates.

Please note that the deadline for entries and arranging access arrangements for general qualification in the summer 2019 series is Thursday 21 February 2019. View the exam timetables here.

November 2018 GCSE (9-1) Mathematics
Maths 2018 GCSE

The November 2018 series GCSE (9-1) Mathematics assessments are now available to download from Interchange.

Mark schemes and grade boundaries will be published on results day (Wednesday 16 January 2019 to centres and Thursday 17 January 2019 to candidates). 

Analysis Grids for these papers will also be published, enabling you to explore student performance.

Reformed Functional Skills materials now available

Draft Sample Assessment Materials for the reformed Functional Skills Mathematics qualifications have now been published.

The reformed Functional Skills qualifications are for first teaching from September 2019.

If you deliver or are interested in the redevelopment of Functional Skills qualifications then we have some free webinars coming up, which will introduce the new content and assessment requirements. The next one is on Thursday 17 January 2019.

New A Level Maths Practice Papers - set 4

Practice Papers (set 4) for A Level Mathematics A (H240) and A Level Mathematics B (MEI) (H640) are now available on Interchange.

Additional A Level Further Mathematics Practice Papers are currently in the process of being finalised.

All our Practice Papers contain entirely new material written, specifically for these new qualifications.

New Level 3 Additional Maths FSMQ resources and CPD

A zip folder of 7 Section check in tests for the revised Level 3 Additional Maths FSMQ is now available to download. Each test features 10 questions with solutions, plus an extension question. Download it now from the qualifications webpage under 'Support materials'.

A Practice Paper for the qualification is currently being prepared and should be published towards the end of this term.

The textbook for the revised qualification is due to be published by Hodder next month. Two sample sections are available from the Hodder website.

Free resources are also available from MEI through Integral.

Wigan GCSE (9-1) Maths network

If you’re a maths teacher around Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Merseyside or Lancashire and you’d like to network with maths teachers while learning about how the assessments of the GCSE (9-1) Mathematics qualification have gone, come along to our free network in Wigan on 1 February 2019.

It’ll be held at Wigan & Leigh College and we’ll look at student performance data to identify which Assessment Objectives and content students can improve in.
