Students from The Leys School, Cambridge, have been getting involved with the ‘Thomas Croft - Portraits for NHS Heroes’ initiative.

The initiative aims, through portraits, to immortalise the people who have made a real difference during this uncertain period – our NHS workers. As many NHS workers as possible will be provided with a free portrait from artists who are available to paint them.

James 1Several of The Leys Sixth Form students have been working hard to create something positive during this time, utilising the skills they have refined over the course of their OCR Art & Design A Level.

The Leys School are extremely proud of contributions from their students which were produced with limited time and materials.

If you take a look through the portraits, you will see a number of NHS workers not only in their uniforms and wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), but also outside of work as well. The painting of a staff nurse who just finished her nightshift is particularly poignant – showing the marks PPE left on her face.

Thank you to The Leys for sharing their students amazing pieces of work with us, and honoring our NHS.

If you have any stories from your school or college, we’d love to hear them and to share your news. Please email us ocrmarketing.campaigns@ocr.org.uk.
