Functional Skills reform update
Functional Skills reform update

We are pleased to announce that our Level 1 and Level 2 maths and English Functional Skills have completed Ofqual's technical evaluation process.

We'll publish the final sample assessment materials as soon as possible and will update you when they are available on our website. 

We have some further changes to make to our Entry Level Functional Skills in maths and English, but they will be ready soon. In the meantime to help you prepare, our content mapping guides are available now.

Functional Skills roadshows and webinars

To help you prepare for delivering the new Functional Skills qualifications, we’ll be supporting you both in person and online.

Our Functional Skills roadshows are free to attend and will be taking place around the country later this month and in July.

The summer 2019 series is now well underway. Question papers are being published to Interchange just a couple of days after each paper is sat.

Please be aware that many centres will be using these papers for mocks in the coming year, so please do keep them secure by not posting them anywhere publically.

Don’t forget also our tips for revision and managing exam stress, which your students may find useful.

Our Maths team will once again be attending a wide range of post-exams conferences this summer. 

We’ll be heading to La Salle Education’s MathsConf19. the MEI conference, the JustMaths conference  plus a number of smaller regional conferences.

Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing writer
OCR Maths paper and calculator

Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing are looking for new maths question writers to join their team. Training is given, so you do not have to have previous question writing experience.

Opportunities are available to write for STEP, BMAT (Biomedical Admissions Test, which has a maths component) and the Test of Mathematics for University Admission.

Free Core Maths Conferences from the AMSP

Are you teaching Core Maths or thinking of introducing it in your school or college?

The Advanced Maths Support Programme (AMSP) is running a series of FREE Core Maths Conferences in nine different venues from June to October.

Advanced Mathematics Support Programme

The days are for prospective, new and experienced Core Maths teachers and each one includes optional workshops, a resources session and a keynote speaker (Ben Sparks, Rob Eastaway or Bobby Seagull).

State funded schools are welcome to bring as many of their department as they would like.
