Supporting you during coronavirus

Hi everyone

We hope you are keeping well and had a lovely half term break.

Our grade submission system is available from Monday 1 June 2020 to enter and submit your centre assessment grades and rank orders for general qualifications and Cambridge Nationals. For Cambridge Technicals it will be available from Monday 8 June to submit centre assessment grades and rank orders per unit.

To support you, we've added a training video and step-by-step guides showing you how to use the grade submission system, and explaining the steps you'll need to follow to submit your centre assessment grades and rank orders.

We're continuing to thank centres supporting their local communities, the NHS and their students - you can read their stories on our Good News page.

As always, we’d like to thank you for your patience at this anxious time. We're continuing to work closely with other exam boards, Ofqual and the DfE so you can have clarity about every qualification.

Submit your centre assessment grades

From Monday 1 June until Friday 12 June you'll be able to submit your centre assessment grades and rank orders for General Qualifications and Cambridge Nationals.

For Cambridge Technicals you can submit your centre assessment grades and rank order per unit from Monday 8 until Friday 26 June.

To support you as you prepare to submit we've produced some guidance documents for teachers, Heads of Department and Heads of Centre. These guides provide information on how to decide the grade, what evidence to look at and how to place your students within a rank order.

We've also produced a video offering guidance for Cambridge Technicals teachers on generating centre assessment grades and rank orders per unit.

JCQ Guidance on split entries and malpractice
JCQ guidance on malpractice and split entries

If your centre has made June 2020 entries with more than one awarding body for the same GCSE or A Level subject, there is a separate process for submitting your centre assessment grades and rank orders.

JCQ has now published guidance on how to provide a single rank order for these subjects.

If you made the most entries with OCR for a particular subject, we will be in touch w/c 1 June to provide you with a pre-populated spreadsheet and instructions on how to submit your centre assessment grades and rank orders for the whole subject. If you made the most entries with another awarding body, they will contact you.

JCQ has also released guidance on malpractice for awarding in summer 2020.

Updated conflict of interest

We've updated our conflict of interest form to include an option for Heads of Centre who will be signing off centre assessment grades and rank orders for a member of their family or close friends and their immediate family.

Release of NEA materials
DT NEA

We know there’s a lot of interest in the release of NEA materials for summer 2021.

We want to confirm that we're releasing NEA material for Design and Technology as scheduled on 1 June so teachers can start to prepare.

There are many uncertainties about the current situation in schools but we’ve taken the decision to go ahead with this release to give teachers the maximum time to start to plan work with their students according to their individual situations.

We have already released NEA material for other subjects for 2021 and we want to be consistent across subjects. We will continue to monitor official guidance closely and it’s possible we may have to issue further guidance, which may include changes to NEA requirements, at a later date. We’re committed to supporting centres to deliver NEA for 2021 and will keep you informed of any developments.

Your stories

We're proud to share the stories of our teachers and school staff who are supporting their local communities and the NHS, as well as their students during these difficult times. This week we're saying thank you to:

Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form students, in Darlington, County Durham who are supporting local care homes during the coronavirus, Exmouth Community College who have been working hard to support their community by making PPE and Imberhorne School, East Grinstead where students, past and present are doing what they can to help out during coronavirus.
