Meet your Subject Advisors
Accounting and Finance
Sarah Phillips
Sarah joined the Business and Economics team in September 2022. She has over 20 years’ experience as a teacher of Business, Economics and Finance and in leadership roles including Head of Department, Head of Sixth Form and Assistant Principal.
She has been an assessor for A Level Economics and holds a degree in Business Economics and the RSA Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA). Sarah brings her extensive classroom and leadership in education experience to her role at Cambridge OCR.
Digital Systems and Data
Vinay Thawait
Vinay joined Cambridge OCR in 2014 to support qualification reform and the development of AS and A Level Computer Science. Since then, he has played a leading role in developing and delivering a wide range of qualifications, including GCSE Computer Science, Entry Level Computer Science, Cambridge National in IT, and Level 3 Cambridge Advanced Nationals in IT, covering Data Analytics, Application Development, and Cyber Security and Networks.
Before joining Cambridge OCR, Vinay built over 25 years' experience in IT and Computer Science education, leadership, and consultancy. His career has included teaching and leadership roles in schools, serving as a Local Authority Subject Advisor, leading national bids for the Building Schools for the Future programme at Capita IT, and managing educational technology solutions.
Education
Sarah Ash
Before joining Cambridge OCR in 2018, Sarah had a background in care and transitioned to teaching after gaining a PGCE in Health and Social Care. She taught KS4 and KS5 in secondary schools and sixth forms across Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex during her teaching career. She has been a sixth form tutor and moderator.
Sarah has also worked as a teacher in a social care setting for young people aged 16-18 transitioning from living in care to becoming independent. At Cambridge OCR she has been involved in the redevelopment of Cambridge Nationals in Health and Social Care and Child Development, and the development of the Cambridge Advanced National (AAQ) in Health and Social Care.
